Mardi Gras 2014 – Look

Guess What Today is ?!?

Mardi Gras Beads I’ll give you a clue… it has to do with colorful beads and lots of happy people.. You’ve guessed it… It’s Mardi Gras. Usually when people think Mardi Gras they think about the music, parades, picnics, floats and excitement in New Orleans.

For those of you who don’t know… Mardi gras is the carnival celebration due to the French, Spanish, and other colonial influences on the settlements over the history. It is also known as “Fat Tuesday“.

Did you know that more than 500,000 king cakes are sold each year during the Mardi Gras celebration? King cakes colorful cakes with a plastic baby inside to represent baby Jesus. Now these days you can even order king cakes online.

So your wondering? What does this has to do with my beauty blog? Good question, Mardi Gras involves tons of colorful costumes and bright makeup. What a great chance for me to show you guys how to get creative at home.

This is the look I came up with for my Mardi Gras mask look. The lights kind of wash away the makeup so I am hoping you’ll be able to see it.

What’s great about this look is I did not have to go out there and buy anything new. Well, I did bought the gem stickers at Joann’s. But if you Google you’ll be able to find 50% off coupons.

Since green, purple, and gold represent the colors of Mardi Gras. I want to interpret that into the look. I used gold gems to highlight the mask making it stand. out.- For this look, I started out with the face first. I used the Lancôme Teine Idole 24h foundation. Then I did a purple smokey eye using purple pigments from Wal-Mart that I had laying around. Next I outlined the mask, shading in the sides with a green cream  and powder eyeshadow using [LE] MAC Ego  . Filling in the rest with gold pigments. Winged eyeliner, false lashes, Done. – I could go more into details about this but no one wants read a long post. =)

Here are some of my memories in New Orleans during Mardi Gras a few years back:

New Orleans,Mardi Gras, beautysins mardi gras, Mardi gras makeup look,

I had a wonderful experience and hope everyone gets to at least get to go there at least once in your life. It’s not just a party scene, if you go in the day time its a great time for the kids and the entire family.

Tell me about your past experiences at Mardi Gras or if you were to go to Mardi Gras what look would you wear?

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and find it helpful. You know just in case you didn’t know what to wear for Mardi Gras this year =)

Have a good day.
